Updating your will
A will should be reviewed every 5 years and after every major life event. Small changes use a codicil; big changes mean a new will.

When to update
Marriage (which revokes an existing will), divorce, the birth of a child or grandchild, the death of an executor or beneficiary, buying property, receiving an inheritance, or moving abroad.
Codicil vs. new will
A codicil amends an existing will and must be signed with the same formalities. For more than two changes — or any change of executors — we recommend a fresh will. Codicils from £150, full re-draft from £299.
